  • 17 free trade agreements in force

    Goods made in Vietnam reach the EU, the UK, CPTPP, RCEP and ASEAN markets at preferential tariffs.

  • US$27.6 billion of FDI disbursed in 2025

    The highest in five years. Foreign-invested companies made about 77% of Vietnam’s goods exports (U.S. State Department, 2026 Investment Climate Statement).

  • Corporate income tax incentives

    The standard rate is 20%. New projects in incentivised sectors such as high technology, supporting industries, renewable energy and software can get 10% for 15 years, up to 4 years’ exemption and a 50% reduction for up to 9 more years (amended CIT Law, in force from 1 October 2025).

  • Investment Support Fund and duty relief

    Since 2024 the Investment Support Fund gives cash support to high-tech companies and R&D centres, including foreign-invested ones. Machinery imported as fixed assets of incentivised projects can be exempt from import duty.

  • At the centre of Southeast Asia

    About 3,260 km of coastline, deep-water ports such as Cai Mep–Thi Vai and Lach Huyen, and road and rail links to China and ASEAN.

Japan and Vietnam are linked by VJEPA, AJCEP, CPTPP and RCEP. A factory in Vietnam can import Japanese machinery and materials and export to Japan at preferential tariffs when rules of origin are met.
