Overview
The low-emissivity foil reflects most radiant heat from the metal roof, but only works with an air gap beside the foil face. The bubble or PE foam layer adds some insulation and acts as a vapour barrier.
It is a low-cost choice for warehouses and light sheds. Plants needing stable temperatures or lower air-conditioning energy should combine it with glass wool or insulated panels.
Uses
- 01Heat barrier under warehouse metal roofs
- 02Condensation control under roofs
- 03Light sheds and farm buildings
- 04Combined with glass wool
Selection and acceptance checks
- Check foil thickness and bubble/foam build-up
- Keep an air gap next to the reflective face
- Tape joints and lap correctly
Reference standards
- ASTM C1313
- AS/NZS 4859.1
