Overview
XPS has a uniform closed-cell structure, so it absorbs almost no water and keeps high compressive strength over time. It is therefore placed above the waterproofing (inverted roofs) or under loaded floors.
XPS is combustible and must be protected by screed, concrete or other layers as fire codes require. Keep it away from solvents.
Uses
- 01Inverted flat roofs
- 02Cold store floors and loaded slabs
- 03Basement walls and foundations
- 04Roof terrace heat insulation
Selection and acceptance checks
- Check compressive strength and thickness
- Provide the fire protection layer required by code
- Avoid solvents and oil-based adhesives
Reference standards
- EN 13164
- ASTM C578
For reference only. The standards for each project follow its design documents, current Vietnamese codes and the investor’s requirements.
