Overview
Glass wool is light, easy to cut and quick to install, often faced with foil or a membrane as a vapour barrier and to contain fibres. It is the common way to cut heat through factory metal roofs.
Performance depends on thickness and compression when installed: squashed insulation loses value. Support mesh or wires below the purlins and sealed edges prevent condensation.
Uses
- 01Heat insulation under factory metal roofs
- 02Acoustic walls and ceilings
- 03Air-conditioning duct wrap
- 04Warehouses and farm buildings
Selection and acceptance checks
- Check density, thickness and facing (foil, PE)
- Install support mesh; do not compress the wool
- Tape facing joints to prevent condensation
