Overview
PVC or rubber waterstops are cast in across the joint between two pours, creating a long sealed path. Hydrophilic waterstops are fixed onto construction joints and swell on contact with water; they are used where PVC strips are hard to hold in place.
Performance depends on firm positioning, properly heat-welded splices and thorough compaction around the strip. Hydrophilic strips must be protected from rain before the pour.
Uses
- 01Construction joints in basement walls and slabs
- 02Movement joints in water and treatment tanks
- 03Tunnels, box culverts and buried structures
- 04Pipe penetrations through buried walls
Selection and acceptance checks
- Check type, width and welded splices
- Fix the strip firmly before pouring
- Compact concrete thoroughly around the strip
