Overview
Plasterboard walls and ceilings are dry, fast and light, easy to route services through and simple to paint. Fire-resistant boards have glass fibre in the core; moisture-resistant boards have water-repellent additives for wet areas.
Fire resistance and sound insulation belong to the whole system (boards, studs, insulation, screws, joint treatment) as tested by the maker, not to the board alone.
