Overview
The drill point is part of the screw, which drills and taps in one operation. The drill point length must exceed the total steel thickness to be penetrated, otherwise the screw jams or snaps.
The screw’s corrosion class (for example Class 3 or Class 4 to AS 3566) should match or exceed the roof sheet. Stainless or capped screws are used in marine or chemical environments.
Uses
- 01Fixing roof and wall sheet to purlins
- 02Fixing insulated panels
- 03Flashings, gutters and roof accessories
- 04Light-gauge framing
Selection and acceptance checks
- Choose the drill point length for the purlin thickness
- Check corrosion class and EPDM washer
- Use a depth-setting driver to avoid crushing the washer
