Overview
Studs are welded with a dedicated stud-welding gun, either directly to the beam or through the metal deck. Common diameters are 16, 19 and 22 mm, with the after-weld length set by the design.
Weld quality is checked visually (a full weld collar) and by 15° or 30° bend tests to the standard. The beam surface at the stud must be free of paint, rust and moisture.
