Overview
Ducts are fabricated on automatic lines from shop drawings; sheet gauge and joint type follow duct size and pressure class to SMACNA or EN 1507. Spiral round ducts are tight and have low pressure loss.
Air tightness directly affects fan and cooling efficiency; cleanrooms and smoke systems need high tightness classes. Smoke ducts passing through other compartments need fire-rated encasement.

Selection and acceptance checks
- Check gauge, coating and joints for the pressure class
- Leak-test at the rate in the specification
