Overview
PC strand is made of 7 high-carbon wires twisted together and stress-relieved, usually low-relaxation. Typical strength is 1860 MPa with 12.7 mm and 15.2 mm diameters.
Post-tensioned slabs in high-rise buildings and warehouses span further with thinner slabs and fewer columns. Strand must be kept dry and rust-free, and used with anchors, ducts and grout from one matched system.
Uses
- 01Post-tensioned slabs in towers and car parks
- 02Bridge girders and super-T beams
- 03Spun piles and pre-tensioned precast beams
- 04Long-span warehouse slabs
Selection and acceptance checks
- Check strength and relaxation certificates
- Check the strand is free of rust and oil
- Record jacking force and elongation during stressing
Reference standards
- ASTM A416
- JIS G 3536
- EN 10138-3
