Overview

Ductile iron is strong and tough, taking high pressures and soil and traffic loads well. Push-on rubber-gasket joints allow small deflections and quick laying; restrained joints are used at bends and tees.

External coatings (zinc, epoxy) and internal linings (cement mortar) follow soil and fluid conditions. It is a durable choice for trunk water and fire mains in industrial parks.

Uses

  • 01Trunk water mains in industrial parks and cities
  • 02High-pressure buried fire mains
  • 03Gravity and pressure sewers
  • 04Pipes under roads

Selection and acceptance checks

  • Check pressure class (C or K), coating and lining
  • Check gaskets and allowable joint deflection
  • Pressure-test the line and check thrust blocks
