Overview
The PU/PIR core is foamed and cured continuously between two steel skins, forming a light, rigid panel with low thermal conductivity. PIR has an isocyanurate ring structure, so it is more thermally stable and behaves better in fire than standard PU.
Panel thickness follows the operating temperature: chillers, freezers or cleanrooms. Where the insurer sets requirements, choose panels approved to FM 4880 or with a suitable EN 13501-1 fire classification.
Uses
- 01Chilled and frozen cold stores
- 02Pharmaceutical and electronics cleanrooms
- 03Food and seafood processing plants
- 04Insulated factory roofs and walls
Selection and acceptance checks
- Check thickness, core density and U-value
- Check fire approvals (FM 4880, EN 13501-1) required by the insurer
- Check tongue-and-groove joints, thermal bridge details and sealants
