Overview

The aluminium-zinc coating combines the barrier protection of aluminium with the cathodic protection of zinc, so it outlasts plain galvanized sheet in most atmospheres. Coating mass is given by an AZ number (for example AZ100 or AZ150), counted on both sides.

Orders should state the base metal thickness (BMT) or total coated thickness (TCT), the steel strength (G300, G550) and the coating mass. Keep the sheet away from wet concrete, copper and treated timber.

Uses

  • 01Factory and warehouse roofs and walls
  • 02Substrate for pre-painted sheet and panels
  • 03Purlins, gutters and flashings
  • 04Canopies and awnings

Selection and acceptance checks

  • Check BMT/TCT and the coating class printed on the sheet
  • Check yield strength (G300, G550) on the certificate
  • Store dry and avoid water trapped between sheets
