Overview
ALC panels use the same material as AAC blocks but contain steel reinforcement, come in lengths of several metres and are fixed to the frame with anchors. Panel walls go up faster than blockwork with little wet mortar and a cleaner site.
Anchors, movement joints, joint treatment and a waterproof finish for external walls must be detailed. Fire resistance follows the thickness and the maker’s test reports.
