Overview
Precast concrete is cast in steel moulds in a factory with controlled curing, giving consistent finish and dimensions. Common products are spun piles, hollow-core slabs, wall panels, beams and infrastructure units.
Assembly shortens the programme and reduces site labour, but connections, lifting inserts, transport and crane plans must be designed from the start.
